Guadalupe Mountains National Park

The second national park I hit during my Texas trip was Guadalupe Mountains. I'd actually been here once before, way back in 2003, the same day that I visited Carlsbad Caverns just to the north in New Mexico, but only visited the visitor center. The original plan was to climb Guadalupe Peak, Texas's state highpoint, but it was an unusually windy day in an already windy area - the rangers told me it could get as high as 85 mph on the summit. I decided to err on the side of not dead and did a couple nice consolation hikes instead, Devil's Hall, and Smith Springs.
