Sawtooths - Warbonnet Basin
August 18-22, 2017 - Central Idaho
21.7 mi  /  3,665 ft
It was the Great American Eclipse of 2017, and I was looking for a way to get to the path of totality. When Mikey suggested a backpack in the awesome Sawtooth Range in Idaho, which was right in the path, I jumped at the opportunity. We were joined by Bryan, Dave, and Bryce, and did a cool loop around Warbonnet Lake, Blue Rock, Oreamnos, Packrat, and Kathryn, before returning to Redfish Lake. We viewed the total solar eclipse from the top of Reward Peak in perfectly clear conditions and the eclipse did not disappoint. Surreal, transcendent...it's hard to come up with words to describe it. Awesome!
