I'd never been to Mexico, something that's been on my list to remedy for many years. The original plan was to go to Alaska again and pick up a couple more national parks this summer. But when Alisa had the entire month of June off, and given her...affinity...for warmer climes, Yucatan made sense. We did and saw many things, but mostly I wanted to go see the famous Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. It was hot and humid as hell, but the famous pyramid there (El Castillo) did not disappoint. We also visited the coastal ruins at Tulum, and swam in several fantastic sinkholes known as cenotes. :)
