Freedom Peak

Mikey has a goal this year of one summit per month. He didn't get to one in June, so he was revving to bag one in July. We debated a few peaks, including Lightning, Shingle Mill, etc., but ultimately decided on one he hadn't done before, good ol' Freedom Peak. We started at Rock Canyon Campground, hiked up to near the Cascade Saddle (forgot how pretty an area this was, especially this time of year), and then up the knife-edgy north ridge to the summit. Note for next time I do this...don't wear Chacos, and do wear gloves. The sharp rocks and dead branches were killer. Luckily I emerged mostly unscathed.
