White Butte

I made this North Dakota trip primarily to hit Theodore Roosevelt National Park...but in looking at the map I noticed that North Dakota's state highpoint, one White Butte, was actually just a short drive to the south. I had time to kill so decided why the hell not? :) White Butte is, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere. Several long, straight dirt roads into the heart of southwest North Dakota's badlands got me to within a couple miles of this "summit". I didn't see a soul the whole time...and the simple hike through the flats and giant rolls of hay offered some nice views and hey, another state highpoint in the books. :)
