Wide Hollow

The original plan was to summit Box Elder Peak via the Sleigh Runner, but it had been a big snow year and there was much more than I anticipated...and it was soft. I made the mistake of not bringing my snowshoes (usually not necessary by June) and it was a slow, post-holing slog up to the top of Wide Hollow and the southern saddle of Box Elder. Rather than continue to the summit in the soft snow I decided to descend via Wide Hollow just to see how it was. Big mistake! :) Many cliff out waterfalls later I ended up bushwhacking my way back up to the regular trail. Still a fun and beautiful hike, however.
