Pikes Peak

My train-crazy nephew Caleb wanted to go on the newly renovated Pikes Peak Cog Railway that takes you about 7,600 feet to the top in 8 miles in one hour. Pretty impressive! So my bro Tim, Caleb, and I headed to Colorado Springs for a bit of a train adventure. This is my 4th, albeit probably easiest, CO 14er, just ahead of Mount Evans. We also did the Royal Gorge train and saw the Arkansas River (looked like a fun packraft), hiked to Crystal Falls, Helen Hunt Falls, and also visited the Garden of the Gods...some interesting red rock fins near the base of Pikes. Overall I was impressed with CO Springs. Cool town.
